Spicy Chili Oil

When I wanted a spicy chili oil for my Tom Kha Gai, I thought it would be no problem to just add it to my grocery list.  But 3 grocery stores later, I couldn't locate a spicy oil.  So I had to take matters into my own hands.

This Spicy Chili Oil is a perfect addition to give any dish a little or a lot of extra spice!  Plus you can feel great knowing that the ingredients are pure.  Way too many spicy oils have additives like colors & chemicals that are just unnecessary.  This oil will also save you a little money because a good quality chili oil will run anywhere from $10-$20 per bottle.  1 cup of quality organic olive oil should only cost about $5-7 dollars & the spices should just be pennies in total.

This oil would be great drizzled on pizza or even these street tacos for an extra kick!

Spicy Chili Oil

ingredients

 1 cup organic olive oil

1 tablespoon red pepper flakes

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

directions

preheat the oven to 350.

place the oil, red pepper flakes & cayenne into a small oven safe pan or dish.

once the oven is preheated, place the pan of oil & peppers into the oven & immediately turn it off.  leave the pan in the oven for 2 hours.

remove the pan, strain the oil into a glass jar, through a fine mesh sieve to remove the pepper flakes.

Store at room temperature in glass jar.
